Te Manu Tukutuku Poem

Te Manu Tukutuku Poem

When I walked into the new location of our school I saw no litter at all. I could also see lots of colours in the syndicate spaces. I went to go see the playground, I saw some new and fun attractions to play on.

When I was playing on the playground I heard a small group of other kids playing basketball. The rest of the school were talking to their friends and playing games with them. When the bell went off instead of it ringing the teachers replaced it with Pharrell William’s song ‘Happy’.

I went to my syndicate space and I could smell a small scent of paint.
I could smell fresh, clean air when I got into my syndicate space.

I felt the soft, cosy carpet that was so fluffy I could lie down there and peacefully do my independent work. The floor was as furry as a cat's fur. When I stepped foot into one of the breakout spaces I sat down on
the fuzzy, blue, cafe-like couches, those couches were so fuzzy and comfortable that I could sleep on one of them.

At first when I got to the new school, I was excited, sad, nervous. The reason why I was a little sad was because I would never go back to the old school again. I was also nervous since we were starting at a new school and I might not remember what to do. At the same time I was excited that there were lots of new stuff at the new school.

Stormy Night

This term in Punui-o-toka we have been learning about weather. In art I created a stormy night picture.
First I dyed my piece of paper with Black starting from the top, so with my dye I used it left to right then right to left, as I did that when I got to the other side I went down a level with my dye. When I was half way I started using Dark Blue for the rest. I didn't get to use Light blue sadly. Second I made a silhouette for shadows of some buildings out of Black paper. Third I dabbed some Black paint for a storm cloud. Fourth I used White paint to create lightning bolts.

Severe Weather

Last week from now Mrs McGuinnetty's Literacy class in Punui-o-toka have been learning about Severe Weather. We chose if we wanted to do a movie, screencastify, slideshow, drawing or a document. I chose a slideshow because its just like a drawing but it has more space to work with.

Animal Description

In Literacy I am learning about Antarctic Animals. I went to the Antarctic Center for a school trip. In Literacy I researched about Emperor Penguins. I wrote a description about them using all my research. I used the correct structure of a description. It has an Introduction, Characteristics and an Evaluation. I used a hook to make people want to read to the end and I used some adjectives.

Chirp Chirp! Do you really want to know some awesome facts about penguins? There are many types of penguins such as an Emperor Penguin. A Penguin is a type of bird.

An Emperor Penguin is very colourful, they have four colours. The colours of an Emperor Penguin are Black, White, Yellow and Orange. The Emperor Penguins are the tallest Penguins in the world(Four feet tall).

Emperor Penguins eat Krill, fish, squid and crustaceans. I think a crustacean is some sort of crab. A fish is mostly a penguin’s main prey. All Penguins have such spiky tongues that even slippery fish can’t escape.

Emperor Penguins have a big layer of blubber to keep them warm. Like all Penguins they have several feathers on their bodys. Most Emperor Penguins huddle up together to keep eachother warm.

Emperor Penguins are my favorite penguin because of how tall and how colourful they are.
